Investment Design

As an independent firm, we view the world from an objective perspective. The investment design process is custom tailored to your specifications, much like a blue print for constructing a home.

Through our global asset allocation process, we seek to identify the best opportunities for each client and then carefully select and monitor those strategies and asset classes over time, adjusting where needed. Our fees are transparent and we are free from many of the conflicts of interest inherent at other financial institutions.

A customized investment plan requires objectivity, and an unbiased approach. It is understood that the money we can spend or save is after it has been taxed in some manner. That could be in the form of earned income or investment related taxes. We focus on generating risk-adjusted returns net of tax and fees, across a broad range of asset classes to meet specific client goals and objectives. We help to classify the liquidity requirements for each client then build portfolios not only to reflect current or near future market conditions, but also keeping in mind the type of investment we are working with, and the taxable events that will be created. Just as there are different types of investment classes, there are different styles of investment management. A specific investment strategy might be tactical, strategic, active, passive, managed or indexed. All of these and many more choices have pros and cons to them. Matching the best mix of these types of investment styles to a client is very important. Asset allocation, rebalancing and tax management within a portfolio are essential. There are times in which a client might have a very large concentration of a single stock prior to working with Granite Ridge Wealth Advisors, which adds significant risk to the portfolio all by itself. Working to reduce those stock concentrations would be addressed very carefully over time.
