Considering every client’s situation is different, the portfolio design has to be too. As a result, every portfolio created for a client is custom made from a clean sheet of paper. There is an engineering process for sure but it has to feel right for the client, and it has to be theirs. Just as one can build a customized home or a car, a client’s portfolio should be custom made for them just the same. As a result what the client gets is a specific design made to order to provide the best overall investment experience an advisor can create. It also requires constant ongoing monitoring and adjustments along the way. But when those adjustments are recommended, they are entirely in the client’s best interests and specific to their circumstances. Risk Management
Helping clients decide what they want to insure, and what they want to retain as an in-house risk, should be an intentional act. Ignoring obvious risks and hoping for the best is not a wise strategy. We wouldn’t intentionally jump into shark infested waters. But at the same time we shouldn’t ignore the risk that they are in the water in the first place. Making a conscious decision to insure a long term care event, or an estate tax bill that may surface despite our best efforts, is a logical approach to risk management. Hoping for the best is not. Maybe insuring one will not run out of money in retirement is the right choice. Maybe it isn’t necessary. But evaluating the risk of doing nothing is fascinating. So helping a client figure out what they want to do by giving them the facts and letting them make a decision as to what they want to insure, is a much better way to manage risks in one’s life.Insurance Services
